About the department

The Department of Linguistics and History of Language is an integral part of the institution of higher professional education. The department conducts educational, scientific, and methodological work for students and faculty. Faculty members conduct theoretical and practical classes at the faculty in the following subjects: Tajik language, history of language, stylistics, ancient Iranian languages, speech culture, text analysis, writing and spelling of classical texts, and speech culture.

In the 2022-2023 academic year, the Department of Linguistics and History of Language had 19 internal and external faculty members and one laboratory assistant, most of whom are engaged in research, annually publishing scientific and educational books, and preparing dissertations and monographs.

The department offers classes in 24 subjects. Each subject has its own programs and curricula. Faculty members create their own syllabuses and tests for each subject, and teach them to students throughout the year.

The Department of Linguistics and History of Language has 2 PhD students and 10 master's degree students who are engaged in research work, annually publishing scientific papers and preparing dissertations.

History of the department

In 1945, the Department of Language and Literature was formed. The first head of the department was Shahidi Karimov (1945-1947). In those years, the teachers of the department were Muammadi Ismatulloev, Niyoz Safarov, Kodir Rustamov and others, they taught a cycle of subjects of linguistics, literary criticism, methodology of language and literature. The teacher of Russian language and literature G.S. Mikhailichenko also worked in this department. Later, on the basis of the Institute for the Training of Teachers, the Kulyab State Pedagogical Institute was established (1953), in 1956-1958 a group of graduates of the State University of Tajikistan named after V.I. Lenin A. Sufiev, Њ. Mukhibov, B. Murodov, M. Kurbonov, I. Tamlikhoev, A. Sattori, A. Khakimov, F. Kudratova came to work at the department. Based on the decision of the Academic Council of the Institute in September 1968, the Department of Tajik Language and Literature was divided into two departments: the Department of Tajik Language and the Department of Tajik Literature. Candidate of Philological Sciences Inoyat Hasanov was appointed the head of the Department of Tajik Language. At that time, associate professors I. Hasanov, K. Rustamov, R. Dzhuraev, senior lecturers I. Tamlikhoev, I. Ismoilov worked at the department. M., Kurbonov, K. Kalandarov, K. Sangov, Z. Nazriddinov, and young teachers – graduates of the Kulyab State Pedagogical Institute R. Asoev, S. Sabzaev, G. Mirzoev, M. Nabiev, A. Aliyev, O. Davlatov, and a graduate of the State University of Technology A. Soliev.

In the 1960s, in order to assist young faculty members of the department, renowned scientists from the universities of Dushanbe and the Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, including Academician Bobojon Niyozmukhammadov, Associate Professors Nosirjon Masumi, D. Karamshoev, Kh. Khuseinov, M. Ismatulloev, A. Mirzoev, and others taught at the department as staff members. In the 1970s and 1990s, the department's teachers Rakhim Saidov (1972), Karomatullo Kalandarov (1972), Isroil Ismoilov (1975), Saidkul Sabzaev (1982), Murodali Nabiyev (1979), Goib Mirzoyev (1987), Akhmad Aliyev (1997), Khokimkhon Valiev, Sa'di Ismatov, Nuriddin Nasimov, Mastura Abdurakhmanova and others defended their scientific dissertations, and Rakhim Saidov and Saidkul Sabzaev defended their doctoral dissertations.

Department staff members completed their professional and academic studies at the Institute of Linguistics of the USSR Academy of Sciences (G. Mirzoev, St. Petersburg), the V.I. Lenin Moscow State Pedagogical Institute (K. Rustamov, K. Sangov), and institutes in Dushanbe and the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan (R. Saidov, A. Soliev, R. Asoyev, A. Aliyev, M. Abdurakhmanova, H. Valiev, N. Nasimi, S. Ismatov).

The department has published over 450 scientific and methodological works, textbooks, teaching aids, and research articles.

Over the years of the department’s activity, the following persons headed the department: Shakhidi Karimov (1945-1947), Madokhir Kurbonov (1965-1968), Inoyat Hasanov (1968-1970), Rahim Saidov (1970-1979) - (1993-2000), Kodir Rustamov (1979-1989), Saidkul Sabzaev (1989-1993), Nurali Ayubi (2000-2002), Akhmad Aliyev (2003-2012), Ozoda Kenjaeva (2012 until October 2014), Akhmad Aliyev (2014-2015), Bakhtiniso Aliyeva (2015-2017), Jumakhon Alimi from 2018 to the present.

Деятельность кружка и семинара кафедры

При кафедре действует научный кружок с 1968 года. Кружок называется «Языковед и молодой методист» в нем обсуждаются проблемы таджикского языкознания и научные работы студентов. В данное время кружком руководит ассистент кафедры таджикского языка Ситораи Абдурасул. Членами кружка являются 25 способные и творчески одаренные студенты. Согласно плану заседания кружка проводится раз в месяц и в нем рассматриваются самые лучшие научные статьи, а самые лучшие сочинения печатаются в газете «Анвори  дониш», «Навиди Кўлоб» и “Маърифат”.

При кафедре действует научный кружок с 1968 года. Кружок называется «Языковед и молодой методист» в нем обсуждаются проблемы таджикского языкознания и научные работы студентов. В данное время кружком руководит ассистент кафедры таджикского языка Ситораи Абдурасул.  Один из членов кружка Шамшоди Джамшед участвовал в «Кубке Академии наук Таджикстана» (март 2014) и занял первое место и был удостоен Гранпри.

В марте 2017 года студентка 3 курса Саидова Матлуба в республиканской олимпиаде, проводимой Академией наук Таджикистана для постижения «Кубка Академии наук Таджикстана» заняла третье место. В апреле 2017 года в олимпиаде высших учебных заведений, который каждый год проводится Министреством образований и науки РТ она заняла первое место, во всем этом велика роль наставников кафедры.

В марте 2019 года студентка третьего курса Адибаи Нурали в республиканской олимпиаде, проводимой Академией наук Таджикистана для постижения «Кубка Академии наук Таджикстана» заняла третье место, в этом очень велика  роль кафедры.
