About the department

The Department of Biology and Teaching Methods is an integral part of the higher professional educational institution and carries out educational, scientific, and methodological work among students and faculty. Faculty members teach classes in various faculties across disciplines, including the department's core disciplines. The department employs 34 faculty members engaged in research, teaching, and educational activities. Of these, 3 are Doctors of Science (DSc), professors (1 DSc, professor, associate professor, 2 DSc, professors, associate professor), and 6 are candidates of science. Four senior lecturers are full-time employees, 22 are assistants, and 16 doctoral students work in the department. The average age of the department staff is 34 years. The faculty of the Department of Biology and its teaching methods conduct research work in 2 areas, 2 problems and 12 areas, topics, and do.

History of the department

The Department of Biology and Teaching Methods was established on December 28, 1991, under the name "Natural Sciences." Its first head was senior lecturer S.B. Hafizov.

From 1992 to 1995, the position of head of the department was held by candidate of biological sciences Mirzoev S.S.

Since 1995, the senior lecturer of the department, S.B. Hafizov, was appointed head of the department, and in the same year the name of the department of “Natural Sciences” was changed to the name of the department of “Biology”.

Since 2007, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences S.S. Mirzoev has been elected head of the department.

From 2012 to 2017, the head of the department was senior lecturer of the department Dosakov M.M.

Since 2017, Namozov A. was appointed acting head of the department. In the same year, from November 1, 2017, Isufov S.D. was elected head of the Department of Biology. Since January 16, 2018, the Department of Biology was merged with the Department of Chemistry No. 13 and renamed the Department of Chemistry and Biology.

Since 2020, in accordance with the order of the university rector dated August 18, 2020, No. 168, the Department of Chemistry and Biology was divided into two departments - the Department of Chemistry and Teaching Methods and the Department of Biology and Teaching Methods. The position of head of the Department of Biology and Teaching Methods was held by Sh. Ch. Kullaev until 2021.

From 2021 to 2022, the head of the Department of Biology and Teaching Methods was senior lecturer Ghiyosov Nasimjon Rahmatulozoda, candidate of agricultural sciences.

Since 2022, the head of the Department of Biology and Methods of its Teaching is Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences Bobozoda Bakhtiyor Jangi.

Activities of the circle at the department        

The department runs a scientific seminar and the "Biologist" and "Green Leaf" clubs. Club meetings are held twice a month. Last year, at the initiative of the department, one scientific event was held at the faculty level: "Protection of Medicinal Plants and Biodiversity" and one conference "Climate Change and Environmental Problems of the Republic of Tajikistan", dedicated to the declaration of 2022-2026 as "Years of Industrial Development" and (2020-2040) "Twenty Years of Studying and Developing Natural, Exact, and Mathematical Sciences in Science and Education." In the 2025-2026 academic year, the Department of Biology and its Teaching Methods achieved significant success. In the regional competition "Scientific and Educational Competition", 5th-year student of the specialty "Biology-Ecology" Qurbanalizoda Saimurtazoi Komil took an active part and took second place.
