GENERAL INFORMATION

The Faculty of Russian Language and Literature was established back in 1950, during the period of the two-year Pedagogical Institute. Initially, the Department of Russian Language and Literature was founded within the faculty and continues to operate to this day. Currently, Associate Professor A. J. Ashurov, PhD in Philology, serves as the Acting Dean of the faculty.

The faculty is equipped with two specialized classrooms featuring interactive whiteboards and projectors, one language laboratory, and five classrooms with electronic boards. The faculty's total seating capacity is 439.

Currently, the faculty provides training for specialists in the field of Russian Language and Literature. There are three departments operating within the faculty:

University-wide Department of Russian Language

The Department of Russian Language was first established in 1952. Over the years, the following individuals have served as Head of the Department: Associate Professor A. Takhokhov, Senior Lecturer L.V. Ryabova, PhD in Philology L.B. Kovalskaya, Senior Lecturer M.G. Kabina, Senior Lecturer E. Azimov, Senior Lecturer A.M. Niyazov, Senior Lecturer S.R. Sharipov, Senior Lecturer M.Kh. Gafurova, Senior Lecturer K.A. Asoeva, Lecturer M.R. Kamolova, PhD in Pedagogical Sciences O.P. Sharipova, and PhD in Pedagogical Sciences F.M. Fayzulloeva.

Currently, the Department is headed by Nazarova R.T., PhD in Pedagogical Sciences.

Department of Modern Russian Language

The current Head of this Department is Associate Professor Z. Sh. Nurmatova, PhD in Philology. The Department of Modern Russian Language was first established in 1952. Over the years, the following individuals have served as Head of the Department: Associate Professor B. A. Takhokhov, Senior Lecturer L. V. Ryabova, PhD in Philology L. B. Kovalskaya, Senior Lecturer M. G. Kabina, Senior Lecturer E. A. Azimov, Lecturer A. M. Niyazov, Senior Lecturer S. R. Sharipov, Senior Lecturer M. Kh. Gafurova, PhD in Philology K. A. Asoeva, Senior Lecturer M. R. Kamolova, and PhD in Pedagogical Sciences O. P. Sharipova.

The first faculty members of the department were: Senior Lecturer L. M. Mikhailichenko, Senior Lecturer L. M. Smirnova, Senior Lecturer P. A. Bondarenko, Senior Lecturer P. S. Molchanov, Senior Lecturer D. G. Reznik, Senior Lecturer V. D. Pchelnikov, Senior Lecturer V. M. Nikalaichuk, Associate Professor B. A. Takhokhov, Senior Lecturer V. D. Kazeeva, Senior Lecturer S. I. Later, they were joined by M. Kh. Gafurova, N. M. Fedyunina, Senior Lecturer A. K. Kadrulloev, PhD in Philology A. M. Niyozov, Senior Lecturer D. M. Saydaliev, Senior Lecturer M. A. Karimov, M. R. Kamolova, Senior Lecturer R. Kh. Davlatova, Senior Lecturer K. J. Saydamirova, PhD in Pedagogical Sciences R. N. Murodov, and others.

Department of Foreign Literature and Methods of Teaching Russian Language and Literature

The Department of Foreign Literature and Methods of Teaching Russian Language and Literature has existed since the very early days of the Faculty of Russian Language and Literature. It was initially organized as an experimental department. The decree for its establishment was issued in 1952. Since its inception, PhD holders and Associate Professors have been invited to serve as heads of the department. Over the years, the department has been led by: Professor S. G. Lavrov, Associate Professor Zvagelsky (PhD in Philology), PhD in Philology Bzhasso, PhD in Philology Sh. K. Komilov, Kh. Sh. Tochieva, L. V. Popyrina, L. M. Son, PhD in Philology A. A. Nozimov, PhD in Philology N. N. Salikhov, PhD in Pedagogical Sciences S. R. Rakhimova, PhD in Philology K. A. Asoeva, and PhD in Philology J. A. Bobokulov.

Currently, the duties of the Head of this Department are performed by S. N. Gulomova, PhD in Philology.


FACULTY HISTORY

The Faculty of Russian Language and Literature was established back in 1950, during the period of the two-year Pedagogical Institute. Initially, the Department of Russian Language and Literature was founded within the faculty and continues to operate to this day. During the 1950–1951 academic year, the following students were enrolled at the faculty: Volkova, Vereshchagina, Golter, Podkolzina, Prokudina, Tambovtseva, Fetisova, Yavorskaya, and others. In 1953, twelve students graduated from the Department of Russian Language and Literature. Currently, there are 203 full-time students and 242 part-time (correspondence) students enrolled at the faculty.

Along with the opening of the Department of Russian Language and Literature in 1952, the Department of Russian Language was also established. The first faculty members were L. M. Mikhailichenko, L. Smirnova, P. A. Bondarenko, and P. S. Molchanov; they were later joined by D. K. Reznik and V. D. Pchelnikov.

Currently, three departments operate within the faculty:

  • Department of Modern Russian Language – Headed by Z. Sh. Nurmatova, PhD in Philology;
  • Department of Russian and Foreign Literature with Methods of Teaching Russian Language and Literature – Headed by S. N. Gulomova, PhD in Philology.

In the 1953–1954 academic year, due to the increasing demand for teachers with professional and higher education, the Pedagogical Institute was opened in the city of Kulyab. Following the institute's opening, and in accordance with the instructions of the USSR Ministry of Education, experienced teachers from central higher education institutions were dispatched to work at the Kulyab Pedagogical Institute, including A. M. Ustimenko, A. L. Spektor, L. I. Kotenko, and others.

In the 1954–1955 academic year, at the Kulyab Pedagogical Institute, N. D. Pchelnikov conducted theoretical and practical classes in Old Russian Literature, while D. T. Reznik taught Modern Russian Language.

To develop scientific and pedagogical staff, young lecturers were sent to postgraduate programs (aspirantura) in Moscow, Tashkent, and Kyiv.

In the 1961–1962 academic year, the following teachers worked at the Departments of Russian Language and Russian Literature: M. Z. Shokirova, L. M. Ivanova, E. I. Yurina, and M. T. Dvoryatkina.

In 1966, the Department of Russian and Foreign Literature was established. It was headed by Senior Lecturer N. D. Pchelnikov. In 1970, L. V. Papyrina was appointed as the Head of the Department. A year later, she enrolled in a postgraduate program, and A. Sh. Bzhasso was appointed to the position of Department Head.

From 1972 to 1975, the department was headed by Professor S. G. Lavrov, a prominent scholar who had previously worked at the University of Kyiv.

During the 1970s and 1980s, the duties of the Department Head were performed by Associate Professors B. Zvagelsky, Kh. Sh. Tochieva, and Sh. K. Komilov; PhDs in Philology and Associate Professors L. M. Son, A. A. Nozimov, and N. N. Salikhov; PhD in Pedagogical Sciences S. R. Rakhimova; PhD in Philology J. A. Bobokulov; I. A. Saidov, and others. Among these scholars, two prominent figures stand out for their significant roles in the Republic of Tajikistan: A. A. Nozimov and N. N. Salikhov.
