International Organization “Eastern Mission” in Tajikistan – “Out of the Shadows: Integrating Persons with Disabilities into Society in Tajikistan”

The project aimed to support civil society and persons with disabilities, reduce social exclusion and vulnerability, and involve state authorities in constructive discussions and joint activities. Seven university teachers attended workshops organized by DMT, UNICEF, and Stockholm University, gaining comprehensive knowledge about social work and juvenile justice. Following the project, the Department of Social Work and the specialties Defectology, Speech Therapy, Blind Education, and Oligophrenopedagogy were established.

For the purpose of participating in the training seminars of this project, the teachers of Kulyab State University named after Abuabdullo Rudaki were sent to the Republics of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Azerbaijan.

ERASMUS+ EXTEND – Development of engineering education through the establishment of EXTEND centers and the development and implementation of 8 training courses for teacher professional development.

Development of engineering education through the establishment of EXTEND centers and the implementation of 8 training courses for teacher professional development. Project outcomes included the creation of the EXTEND Center, procurement of equipment worth €22,500, participation of 15 teachers in project working sessions, professional development, and seminars and trainings abroad.

Good Neighbors – Strengthening and raising awareness among the future generation of Tajik students regarding digital-inclusive technologies.

Five computer science teachers from DDK in Dushanbe and 14 others at the university completed professional development courses.

Improvement of Biology (Biotechnology) Educational Programs According to Labor Market Requirements

2019-2021

Curriculum and educational programs were updated, local and foreign consultants were involved, and a modern biotechnology laboratory was opened. Outcomes included 1 revised educational program, 1 updated curriculum, 4 updated teaching programs, 4 foreign consultants conducting training, 1 biotechnology laboratory operational, 1 professional development course and 5 seminars for 20 faculty members, study visits for 103 teachers and students to prominent universities in the capital, 9 teachers sent to Russia for professional development, 1 promotional video broadcast on Safina TV, and 5 newspaper articles published.

Enhancing Employability Skills of Female Students at Higher Courses of Kulyab State University Named after Abuabdulloh Rudaki

Developed employability skills of female students through training sessions, creation of a job-search skills guide, engagement of employers, and study visits. 25 female students participated in Trainer-of-Trainers (ToT) sessions, 1 training guide on job-search skills was published and distributed to 1,200 students, active mentoring was conducted for 668 students, study visits for 200 students in Dushanbe were organized, and the Career Development and Innovation Center was equipped with furniture, computers, and e-learning resources.

Discussion Forum as a Mechanism for Developing Analytical Skills

 

International Organizations Department, Open Society Institute – Madad Foundation in Tajikistan

2021-2022

Enhanced analytical skills of young economics teachers through training sessions and discussion forums. One educational tool, “Methods of Analytical and Scientific Research,” was published and distributed to 20 project beneficiaries. Two trainings were held for 40 young economics teachers, and 13 discussion forums among faculty members were conducted, each attended by at least 50 students.

TRIGGER – Development of entrepreneurial skills among MTOK students to enhance their employability in Central Asia.

Eight teachers participated in two-week seminars in France and Austria and completed a professional development course; five training courses were reviewed, an entrepreneurship development strategy was developed and approved, and six trainings for university teachers were conducted.

Let's Learn Together – Improvement of educational programs in the specialty of primary education methodology and practical training of students.

Eleven teachers from the Faculty of Primary Education participated in the project’s seminars and trainings, completed a professional development course, revised five educational programs, and submitted them for publication.

ERASMUS+

ERASMUS+ (Erasmus Plus) is a European Union program aimed at supporting cooperation in education, vocational training, youth, and sports. The program has merged previous initiatives such as Tempus, Erasmus Mundus, and others. The main objectives of Erasmus+ are to improve the quality of education, promote mobility, and strengthen cultural connections among students. Erasmus+ provides a platform for university cooperation and guarantees participants that the time spent abroad (within program conditions) will be recognized by their home university upon return. The program is designed as an effective tool to support human and social capital development both within Europe and beyond.

Participating countries include all EU member states, as well as Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, and Turkey. Partner countries include the Western Balkans, Eastern Partnership countries, Mediterranean countries, the Russian Federation, Central Asia, Latin America, Africa, and the Caribbean, totaling 13 regions.

HORIZON EUROPE

Horizon Europe is the EU’s 9th research and innovation framework program, replacing Horizon 2020 in 2021. Covering 2021–2027, it has a budget of €95.5 billion. Its main aim is to build a knowledge and innovation-based society in Europe, support a competitive economy, and contribute to sustainable development. Horizon Europe is the largest EU program supporting research and innovation.

International Science and Technology Center (ISTC)

The ISTC is an intergovernmental organization that connects scientists with collaborators and research institutions in other countries. Located in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan, ISTC’s current member governments include Armenia, the European Union, Georgia, Japan, Kazakhstan, the Republic of Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Norway, Tajikistan, and the USA. Nearly 60 countries’ scientists have participated in ISTC activities. The center promotes international scientific projects and helps the global scientific and business community access and apply advanced scientific know-how.

DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service)

DAAD annually provides scholarships for students, graduates, young researchers, and scientists from Tajikistan, funded by the German Federal Foreign Office and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. Founded in 1925 in Heidelberg, DAAD is a leading organization in international academic exchange.

 Application deadline: November 30 (annually)

 Location: Germany

 Program duration: 10–24 months

DAAD not only provides scholarships but also promotes the internationalization of German universities, strengthens German studies abroad, supports developing countries in establishing effective universities, and offers advisory services in education policy and international cooperation. Scholarships mostly target postgraduate students and highly qualified specialists.

This institute implements initiatives supporting inclusive education, healthcare systems, social and economic integration, financial transparency, and protection of rights and freedoms.

MEVLANA Exchange Program

The MEVLANA academic exchange program facilitates student and faculty exchanges between universities in Turkey and higher education institutions in other countries. Students can study abroad for 1–2 semesters, and faculty members can teach abroad for 1 week to 3 months. Selected students and teachers receive scholarships for participation.
