ERASMUS+

ERASMUS+ (Erasmus Plus) is a European Union program aimed at supporting cooperation in education, vocational training, youth, and sports. The program has merged previous initiatives such as Tempus, Erasmus Mundus, and others. The main objectives of Erasmus+ are to improve the quality of education, promote mobility, and strengthen cultural connections among students. Erasmus+ provides a platform for university cooperation and guarantees participants that the time spent abroad (within program conditions) will be recognized by their home university upon return. The program is designed as an effective tool to support human and social capital development both within Europe and beyond.

Participating countries include all EU member states, as well as Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, and Turkey. Partner countries include the Western Balkans, Eastern Partnership countries, Mediterranean countries, the Russian Federation, Central Asia, Latin America, Africa, and the Caribbean, totaling 13 regions.

HORIZON EUROPE

Horizon Europe is the EU’s 9th research and innovation framework program, replacing Horizon 2020 in 2021. Covering 2021–2027, it has a budget of €95.5 billion. Its main aim is to build a knowledge and innovation-based society in Europe, support a competitive economy, and contribute to sustainable development. Horizon Europe is the largest EU program supporting research and innovation.

International Science and Technology Center (ISTC)

The ISTC is an intergovernmental organization that connects scientists with collaborators and research institutions in other countries. Located in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan, ISTC’s current member governments include Armenia, the European Union, Georgia, Japan, Kazakhstan, the Republic of Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Norway, Tajikistan, and the USA. Nearly 60 countries’ scientists have participated in ISTC activities. The center promotes international scientific projects and helps the global scientific and business community access and apply advanced scientific know-how.

DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service)

DAAD annually provides scholarships for students, graduates, young researchers, and scientists from Tajikistan, funded by the German Federal Foreign Office and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development. Founded in 1925 in Heidelberg, DAAD is a leading organization in international academic exchange.

 Application deadline: November 30 (annually)

 Location: Germany

 Program duration: 10–24 months

DAAD not only provides scholarships but also promotes the internationalization of German universities, strengthens German studies abroad, supports developing countries in establishing effective universities, and offers advisory services in education policy and international cooperation. Scholarships mostly target postgraduate students and highly qualified specialists.

Open Society Institute – Madad Foundation in Tajikistan

This institute implements initiatives supporting inclusive education, healthcare systems, social and economic integration, financial transparency, and protection of rights and freedoms.

MEVLANA Exchange Program

The MEVLANA academic exchange program facilitates student and faculty exchanges between universities in Turkey and higher education institutions in other countries. Students can study abroad for 1–2 semesters, and faculty members can teach abroad for 1 week to 3 months. Selected students and teachers receive scholarships for participation.
