DISCUSSION ON THE PROPER USE OF SOCIAL MEDIA AT THE UNIVERSITY

A seminar entitled “Proper Use of Social Media in Modern Conditions: Is the Internet for Knowledge or for Threats?” was held at the Faculty of Chemistry and Biology of Kulob State University named after Abuabdullohi Rudaki with the participation of faculty members and university staff.

During the meeting, Associate Professor Anvar Sharipov, Head of the Universitys Department of Educational Affairs, delivered a speech on the role of social media in contemporary society and its impact on the worldview of young people. He emphasized that the Internet has become an important tool for accessing knowledge, information, and developing professional skills. At the same time, irresponsible use of the virtual environment may contribute to the formation of misguided views, a decline in moral values, and alienation of young people from national traditions and values.

It was noted that in the context of globalization, teachers, as the primary force in educating the younger generation, bear greater responsibility. Therefore, alongside teaching and educational activities, they should actively contribute to enhancing information literacy, developing critical thinking, and educating young people in the spirit of patriotism, national self-awareness, and safeguarding the interests of the state and the nation.

At the end of the meeting, participants exchanged views on ways to effectively use social media, prevent the negative influence of inappropriate content, and improve information literacy. They emphasized that holding such discussions is important for strengthening educational and upbringing activities.
