UNIVERSITY STUDENT - ASIAN KURASH CUP MEDALIST

Today, at the entrance to the ancient city of Kulob and at Kulob State University named after Abuabdullohi Rudaki, a welcoming ceremony was held in honor of Mustafoi Abdulfaiz, a third-year student of the Faculty of Physical Education and Military Training and medalist of the Asian Kurash Cup. First, the athlete was warmly welcomed at the entrance to the city of Kulob with the participation of the Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs, Associate Professor Sharifzoda Odinamo, faculty members, students, and sports enthusiasts in an atmosphere of pride and celebration. Afterwards, an official ceremonial meeting with the university administration took place in the university’s administrative building.

During the welcoming ceremony, the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Associate Professor Abdusamadzoda Eraj, expressed satisfaction with the athlete’s achievement and emphasized that such successes are the result of the sports-oriented policy of the Leader of the Nation, Honourable Emomali Rahmon, as well as the persistent efforts of talented young people. It was also noted that the achievements of young athletes contribute to enhancing the university’s reputation and promoting Tajik youth on the international stage. During the event, the university administration awarded Mustafoi Abdulfaiz with a certificate of appreciation and a monetary prize.

It should be noted that Mustafoi Abdulfaiz, competing in the 66 kg weight category, successfully participated in the Asian Senior Kurash Cup, held from May 22 to 25, 2026, in the city of Nukus, Republic of Karakalpakstan, Uzbekistan, where he earned second place, receiving a medal and the tournament cup.

It is worth mentioning that nearly 100 athletes from various Asian countries, including Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, India, Saudi Arabia, Chinese Taipei, and Singapore, took part in this prestigious continental competition. Mustafoi Abdulfaiz’s achievement in such a high-level tournament is a testament to the strong preparation, athletic skill, and determination of Tajik youth.
