SPORT AS A FACTOR IN STRENGTHENING PATRIOTIC SPIRIT

At Kulob State University named after Abuabdullohi Rudaki, within the framework of events dedicated to Tajikistan Youth Day, World Football Day, and the celebration of the 35th anniversary of the State Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan, sports competitions in mini-football and national wrestling were organized among university students for the “Rector’s Cup of Kulob State University named after Abuabdullohi Rudaki” for 2026. Today, on 18.05.2026, a solemn ceremony was held to honor the winners of these competitions.

The award ceremony was attended by the Rector of the university, Professor Safarzoda Munir Vatan, vice-rectors, heads of departments and divisions, members of the teaching staff, and students of the university.

In his speech, the Rector of the university, Professor Safarzoda Munir Vatan, stated that during the years of independence, under the wise sports-oriented policy of the Founder of Peace and National Unity - Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Honourable Emomali Rahmon, special attention has been paid to the development of sports, physical education, and youth support, while all necessary conditions have been created for the development and growth of the younger generation. It was emphasized that today sport is not only a means of strengthening health but also an important instrument for fostering patriotism, national identity, strong will, and a sense of responsibility among young people.

At the same time, the Rector called on young people and students to maintain a healthy lifestyle, pursue knowledge, engage in self-development, and actively participate in scientific, cultural, and sporting activities, noting that educated, physically healthy, and broad-minded youth can, in the future, make a worthy contribution to the development and progress of the state and nation as a driving force of society.

It should be noted that the sports competitions were held in an atmosphere of fair competition, strong patriotic and national awareness, friendship, mutual understanding, and respect for national values. The participants demonstrated athletic skills, strong determination, and excellent physical preparedness.

Finally, in a solemn atmosphere, the winners of the mini-football competition among university faculty teams, as well as the winners of the national wrestling competition, who competed in four weight categories  65 kg, 71 kg, 78 kg, and over 86 kg - were awarded cups, diplomas, medals, and commemorative gifts by the Rector of the university.
