In his congratulatory speech, Rector Safarzoda Munir Vatan congratulated journalists, media workers, as well as teachers and students - future journalists - on Tajik Press Day and wished them creative success and prosperity.
The celebration of Tajik Press Day symbolizes respect for the responsible and honorable work of journalists. This date is closely connected with the history of the national press and originates from the publication of the first Tajik newspaper - Bukhoro‑i Sharif, which was published on March 11, 1912 in Bukhara. Since then, the Tajik press has followed a distinguished path of development and improvement and has become one of the important pillars of the spiritual and social life of society.
In the modern world, the role of mass media has become even more significant. The press serves not only as a means of transmitting information but also as an influential factor in shaping public opinion, fostering moral education among citizens, and strengthening national values. The dedicated work of journalists contributes to reflecting reality objectively, protecting national interests, and presenting the countrys achievements in the international arena.
During the conference, the Chairman of the Union of Journalists of Tajikistan Zinatulloh Ismoilzoda noted that journalism is an honorable but demanding profession that requires not only knowledge but also skill and talent. According to him, journalists represent the enlightened part of society and guide it toward development and progress.
Later, the Peoples Poet of Tajikistan Haqnazar Ghoib and media veteran Bozorozoda Safarali also expressed their views on the role of the press in public life, emphasizing that mass media play an important role in covering socio-economic transformations, strengthening peace and national unity, protecting national interests, and delivering timely information to the public.
At the end of the conference, certificates of membership in the Union of Journalists of Tajikistan were awarded to three lecturers, while a group of university staff members and media representatives of the Kulob region received letters of appreciation from the Rector.
Within the framework of the conference, a new cooperation agreement was also signed between Kulob State University named after Abuabdullohi Rudaki and the Union of Journalists of Tajikistan
